Heat Transfer – Why Do We Get Cold? - Clo

At Clo Insulation, we understand the science behind heat transfer. We know that our garments need to be breathable, insulated and warm, so that they can prevent our wearers from becoming cold, even in the bitterest of conditions. This is why our outdoor thermal fabric is of the highest-performance and highest-quality possible. We are self-confessed experts in the clothing insulation industry, and strive to ensure that our garment wearers never have to feel the cold again.

Why Do We Get Cold?

As most people know, when the weather gets cold, we can feel it. But the real question is; Why does this happen? Well, it’s all to do with heat transfer.

Heat transfer involves the movement of thermal energy from one thing to another thing of a differing temperature. In the human sense, this generally refers to the loss of a person’s body heat when stepping outside into a cold weather environment, from a warm, insulated house. Lucky for us, we now have different types of clothing to protect us from the cold. At Clo Insulation, we have perfected the art of creating thermal outdoor fabric that can keep a person comfortably warm, even in the harshest of winters.

Clothing Insulation With a Difference

At Clo Insulation, we do things a little bit differently. We believe that the three key elements of amazing insulation fabric are warmth, breathability and softness. All of these things are important attributes by themselves, but together, they are unstoppable.

We call our unique combination, the Triad of Comfort. We believe that a soft and comfortable thermal jacket that maintains body temperature in cold conditions, whilst also allowing for moisture to disperse away from the body, makes the perfect insulation fabric to wear whilst exercising.

How Does Clo Insulation’s Breathable Fabric Work?

As a result of extensive science-based research and laboratory testing, we know that our clothing fabric can stand the elements, and the test of time.

By focussing a lot of research on the breathability of our insulation, we have discovered the perfect amalgamation of breathability and warmth. This means that when heat transfer does inevitably attempt to occur, our insulation can trap air between its layers, keeping the garment wearer warm, dry and comfortable.

At Clo Insulation, we are proud of our advancements in the clothing insulation field. As there is no industry specific standard for testing breathability, we have decided to invent our own. We now undertake bespoke laboratory testing to ensure that your garments have the edge in development.
