What is body mapping? 

Whether you're a seasoned professional in the apparel industry or an outdoor enthusiast seeking the perfect gear, understanding body mapping is key to unlocking the full potential of your outerwear.

By applying body-mapping to the key sweat areas it allows the design of a garment to achieve optimal thermal comfort on every part of the garment. By using different weights of insulation in different parts of the body, depending on the sweat rates helps to minimise the the volume of sweat molecules, which make the user uncomfortable. With perforated insulation it can increase the breathability of an area by up to 30% by increasing the movement of sweat in the form of water vapour whilst maintaining comfortable warmth values.

By mapping the body the best material can be put in place to improve comfort for the end user. For example whilst exercising, your back is most likely to sweat alot more than your arms therefore it is recommended and proven through body mapping that there is a comfort advantage when the back panel of a jacket is a much more breathable material e.g perforated insulation to increase breathability but a high enough grammage to keep the user warm in cold conditions.
